Cabool Christian Church: What We Believe

About God

We believe God is the Creator and Sustainer of everything that exists. He is one God manifesting Himself in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each has the same nature, is co-equal and co-existent. (Genesis 1 and 2; John 14:15-21; Colossians 1:15-20)

About Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. He is truly God and truly Man, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He was sinless, yet He gave His life for the sins of the world by dying on the cross in accordance with the Scriptures. He alone can restore man's relationship with God. He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, sits at the right hand of God, and is our great High Priest and Advocate. The return of Jesus is a "Blessed Hope" to be eagerly anticipated by Christians. (Isaiah 53; Matthew 1:18-25; 1 Corinthians 5:1-8; Hebrews 1:1-4; John 1:1-4Colossians 1:15-20; 1 Thessalonians 3:11-13, 4:13-18)

About Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, the Third Person of the Trinity, the Spirit of God and Christ. He convicts us of our sin and brings the sinner to salvation. He dwells in the Christian upon salvation and is our Helper, Comforter, Counselor, and Guide. Christians grow in spiritual maturity by the Spirit living within them. (John 14:15-21, 26; Ephesians 1:13-14; Colossians 1:9-12;
Romans 8:26; John 16:7-8)

About Scripture

We believe the Bible is God's Word, and God's Word is the final authority for the Church and for believers. We believe the Bible was written by inspiration from God's Holy Spirit. Everything we believe, everything we teach, and everything we preach is based on the foundation of the Scriptures. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21)

About Man & Sin

We believe that mankind is created in the image and likeness of God. The first man, Adam, rebelled against God, fell from the right relationship with Him, and in so doing, introduced sin and death into the world. We inherited Adam's sinful, fallen nature and all are sinners. (Genesis 1:26-27, 3:13-17; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12-13; 1 Corinthians 15:21-23)

About Salvation

We believe God sent Jesus Christ to save mankind from sins and restore man's relationship with God so that we can live with Him forever. Jesus was sacrificed on the cross, died, was resurrected, and paid for the sins of all. Man can do nothing to earn his salvation. Salvation is by grace-a free gift of God accepted through a personal faith and belief in Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:10-24, 6:23, 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:1-10; John 3:16, 36; Revelation 3:20)

About the Church

The church is the Body of Christ and consists of all people who believe in and follow Jesus Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God through worship, Bible teaching, service, discipleship, fellowship, prayer, and sharing Christ with others. (Acts 2:42, 46-46; I Corinthians 12:12-13; Romans 12:4-8; Ephesians 2:19-22, 5:18-21; I Peter 2:1-6)
